Summary: Sam's a big geek with computer passwords to match so it's no surprise that Dean figures them out eventually but even he doesn't totally get the meaning behind this one.
"Samwise? Your latest password for the laptop is Samwise? What kind of password is that?" huffed Dean.
Sam smiled ruefully as he realized his brother had managed to crack his computer security yet again and within the week would likely have it so full of malware and other crap from sites like Busty Asian Beauties that they'd have to swing by the Roadhouse so that Ash could clean it up and get it back to running as good as new.
"Samwise Gamgee, y'know, from Lord of the Rings," he responded with a weary huff.
"All I remember about those movies were the badass swords and the hot elven chicks," snickered Dean, "None of which were named Samwise."
"Samwise was one of the hobbits, he and Frodo were the ones that took the ring into Mordor."
"Okay," drawled Dean, "Still doesn't explain why you used him for your password other than the obvious name thing."
"I dunno, I guess it feels like he and I have a lot in common," admitted Sam with a shrug.
Dean quirked a brow and let out a small bark of laughter at the idea of his giant of a brother thinking he had something in common with some short stumpy dude.
"Like what?" he prodded.
Sam pressed his lips together thoughtfully as he mulled over how to respond to his brother's inquiry.
"He was willing to follow Frodo into Mordor with no guarantee of either of them making it back alive," he mused softly.
He glanced over at his big brother who just rolled his eyes and turned his attention back to the computer. He thought about how far they'd come and how the worst more than likely still lay ahead of them. But despite all of that if given a second chance at that night when Dean had come to fetch him, when he'd left Jess alone in favor of trying to find Dad he would have done the same thing just as when Frodo told Sam to go back at the end of the first movie instead of following him to Mordor.
'Of course you are. And I'm coming with you. I made a promise, Mr Frodo. A promise. "Don't you leave him Samwise Gamgee." And I don't mean to. I don't mean to.'
