Humans have strange dreams, and most of them, even if only at times, tend to talk in their sleep. Baby's known that for years, ever since her time with John and Mary. John would always mumble about his boys and cherished Mary when he passed out behind her wheel. In his dreams, the monsters were not what was most important. It was always his family, which, she knows even if the rest of them can't always see, was always his real reason for pushing himself so hard as a hunter. It's most of their reasons really, even if they'll never see it.
John's boys, who are also her boys, aren't so very different from their father. They're more like him than either prefers to think. They both dream of monsters too often, just like their dad, but their good dreams, rare as they are, are the images of what they truly want from this mean world. Dean dreams of the wide, open road and endless adventures shared with his brothers -- but instead of those adventures happening while they kill monsters and fight to keep from being killed, they focus on nude beaches and huge amounts of pie. (Baby wishes she could taste pie just once, to see why her boy likes it so much.)
Sam's dreams are a lot like his beloved, older brother's: There are no monsters. In his dreams, there are no monsters at all, just a cozy home in which to settle down with his brother and live out the rest of their days in peace, and maybe a dog or even a cat. There are no more adventures on the road at all for him.
But it's the fallen Angel whose dreams the old car likes the most, and can relate to the most. He doesn't dream of things for himself. He dreams of Dean and Sam and of the life he'd like to give them. Like Baby, he'd give everything to see the brothers realize their dreams. Baby's engine purrs as she holds him in her back seat and hopes with all she has that one day they'll find a way to make that dream real.
